Not quite mathematician. Not quite data scientist. Not quite developer.

Other interests include cultural commentary, art movies, street metal, and puzzle games. Trying to spend less time doomscrolling and more time making and/or looking at cool things. Results TBD. Traditionally, I'm good at knowing things and less good at doing things, so I'm trying to even that ratio out a bit.

This site exists despite my lack of confidence as a developer or professional need for it because of my interest in IndieWeb principals and divesting from the corporate internet. Also, I figure it's decent skill development.

It is hosted for the large first year price of three dollars. It could have been created for 1% of the effort with better design and features by using any number of microblogging or GUI based hosting services, but that would have been less interesting.

Site Tooling/Attribution

• The site is made using Pelican, a Python based static site generator that uses Jinja2 templates for themes.
• The theme is/was notmyidea
  • This is the default Pelican theme, originally published in Smashing Magazine
  • It is slowly diverging from this as I make manual edits (maybe).
• The Pelican site generating code is hosted on GitHub in a personal repo.
• The domain patrickd.xyz was registered from porkbun.
• The site itself is built and hosted by Netlifly on its free tier (unless I smash the build button too much, in which case I might upgrade).
